The anti-terror wing of the Marriott Hotel in Oak Brook, Illinois bounced a conference to be held by Muslim activist group,  Hizb ut-Tahrir.  The organizers, predictably, insist that they advocate “peaceful government reform”.

Reporter Manya Barchear’s excruciatingly nuanced account claims the conference was “dedicated to reviving the prevailing system of rule that immediately followed the death of the Prophet Muhammad”.  Chicago PC code for Sharia Law.

Just for fun, let’s assume a really fanciful, utterly unimaginable set of circumstances – a real screwball fantasy:

Let’s say that a group of religion-drunk psychopaths with dreams of paradise flew a pair of commercial aircraft full of screaming passengers into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City on, say, September 11th, 2001. Let’s suppose they kill, oh, a couple thousand people.

Naturally, it could never happen. Nobody is that deluded, that self-destructive, that murderous. No religion would sanction – and sanctify – such a thing. But play along with me here.

And let’s say that a few years down the road, a group of their co-religionists, led by a fellow who has opined that the events of that date were not orchestrated by his peers, but by 1) the Jews, 2) the U.S. government, 3) unknown but definitely NON-Muslim parties, or 4) some combination of the above – let’s say that this group wants to build a massive “Islamic learning center” and mosque as close as possible to the two holes in the ground that are the footprints of those towers.

Of course, nobody would stand for that. The city council would vote him down. The public would run him out of the city. But let’s just pretend.

Let’s pretend that this fellow gets, say, $100 million in financing to build the thing (from undisclosed sources); that he plans to open it on the 10th anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001 (no symbolism there); and that – hold onto your seat – he wants to call this abomination “Cordoba House.”

Imagine a Super Bowl with all male cheerleaders and half-time prayers. In that America, they drink Jihad Cola instead of Coke and thank Allah when they win an Oscar.

Luckily, that America is fictional, one vividly described in Robert Ferrigno's 2006 futuristic novel, Prayers for the Assassin, set in 2040. But is it really so hard to imagine, in a world in which a man named "Barack Hussein Obama" can get elected President just a few years after Muslim hijackers destroyed the world's tallest buildings in the heart of New York City?

Today many Americans are either blissfully ignorant of, or simply indifferent to, the slow, incremental growth of radical Islam in their midst.

We sometimes hear about terrorist cells or suspicious Muslim "compounds" on the news. However, these stories represent merely the tip of an Islamic iceberg that could very well doom America. Not today or tomorrow. But in our lifetimes? That is a real possibility.

And don't shrug off Islam as "just another religion." Muslim sharia law deems women to be inferior to men, and allows husbands to "lightly" beat their wives. Polygamy and child bride marriage are condoned and encouraged, due to the example of Mohammed himself, whose many wives included a nine year old. Anti-Semitism and slavery are enshrined in the Koran, as is exploitation of and even violence against all "unbelievers."

Radical Muslims have learned they don't require bombs or hijacked airliners to destroy America. They can just use America's own ideological infrastructure against itself.

Using a kind of ingenious political jujitsu, radical Muslims rely upon everything from the rights to freedom of speech and worship enshrined in the U.S. Constitution to the current atmosphere of hypersensitive political correctness to push their agenda.

For example, the "Islamification" of the educational system is now underway. Textbooks whitewash Islam's bloody history. Public school children forbidden to pray or recite the Pledge of Allegiance are, however, obliged to play "Muslim for a Day." Meanwhile, universities eagerly introduce footbaths, Muslim prayer rooms and hallal cafeteria food.

Writing about Wahabism and Salafi-Islam, could fill many books. I will however in this article, try to make clear why it is of tremendous importance in our time. Both movements are considered as the origin of Islamic terrorism. A lot of recent Islamic terrorists such as Osama Bin Laden, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, and Abu Musab Al Zarqawi, have been inspired by Wahabism.

Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab (1703 – 1792 ) was an Arab theologian born in Saudi Arabia and can be considered as the founder of Wahabism. Wahab is considered by many to be a great reformer of Islam, and at the same time as the "father of Islamic terrorism. Iwill not go deeply into his teachings, but expose the teachings of two of his contemporary followers.

Salman bin Fahed al-Auda, in his book "The End of History", asserts that the solution to Islamic distress , that may bring about the fall of America and the Western world, "exists in one word which is Jihad". According to al-Auda, the meaning of jihad is much broader than fighting with a sword. Appealing to Muslims throughout the world, he wrote: "We should not simplify this issue and narrow its meaning to a restricted military battle in one of the Islamic regions or even to an all-out war against the West, which is possible and predicted and we assume is arriving… Life as a whole is a battlefield. The weapons are not only the rifle, the bullet, the airplane, the tank, and the cannon. Not at all! Thinking is a weapon, the economy is a weapon, money is a weapon, water is a weapon, planning is a weapon, unity is a weapon, and so there are many types of weapons." In "The End of History", al-Auda concluded that the West by itself was already in an advanced state of decay: "The West, and above all the United States, and Western culture, in general are undergoing a historical process that is deterministic. This process leads to its total collapse, sooner or later." His jihad was intended to accelerate that collapse. During the 1990's, he was regarded as the most influential preacher in Saudi Arabia and Osama Bin Laden often cites out of his work.

I really don’t care how many times Barack Hussein Obama says he is a Christian. I believe he is a Muslim and I believe he chosen to hide his true faith in the name of the jihad being waged by the militant branch of Islam through acts of terror and intimidation and the world.

Few in the West know of the doctrine of “taqiyya”, the concealment of a Muslim’s true faith. As Robert Spencer explained it in his book, “The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades)”, there are “two enduring Islamic principles: the permissibility of political assassination for the honor of the Prophet and his religion and the allowance for the practice of deception in wartime.” Indeed, Mohammed is quoted as saying that, “War is deceit.”

Jihad is war. It is a holy war. It is central to the practice of Islam.

To put the practice of deception in its historic context, Spencer notes that, “When Shiite Muslims were persecuted by Sunnis, they developed the doctrine of taqiyya, or concealment: They could lie about what they believed, denying aspects of their faith that were offensive to Sunnis. This practice is sanctioned by the Koran warning Muslims that those who forsake Islam will be consigned to Hell—except those forced to do so, but who remain true Muslims inwardly.”

In Iraq, Sunni Muslims, fearful of being attacked by the Shiite majority, shared information about how to make themselves and their homes appear to be Shiite. The practice of taqiyya was applied and with good reason. It is worth noting that Sunnis are the majority sect of Islam, whereas Shiites are concentrated in Iraq and in neighboring Iran.

This is why Obama’s profession of faith as a Christian permits the concealment of being a Muslim in his heart. What he does not deny is that he was raised and educated as a Muslim, attended a Muslim school for four years while living in Indonesia. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the school taught Wahhabism, a fundamentalist version of Islam that has it roots in Saudi Arabia. At age 10, his twice-divorced mother moved to Hawaii.

If he were truly an apostate, a Muslim who had renounced Islam, the penalty for that is death.

Seven years passed 9/11 and five years passed the invasion of Iraq, Americans are still trying to figure out what makes Arabs behave the way they do. There is a vast cultural difference between those in the West and those in an Arab world that fills the Middle East and stretches across the northern tier of Africa. Indeed, military conflict with Arabs goes back to the days of Thomas Jefferson.

In writing about Arabs, it must be acknowledged that one must use generalizations. No group is unanimous in all respects. All have their conservatives, their moderates, and starry-eyed liberals. Every group, however, has widely shared cultural and religious views, and as history teaches us, it is the silence of good people that permits the bad actors among them to dominate events.

In her new book, Sandra Mackey uses the calamity that is Lebanon to provide some useful insights to the Arab world she knows well. “Mirror of the Arab World” is well worth reading with the caveat that Mackey has bought into the view that Israel does not have any right to exist. For her it is always “Zionist” Israel in much the same way Arab news media always refers to “occupied Jerusalem.”

9-11St. Petersburg, FL – Mar 31, 2008 –  Bill Keller, the world's leading Internet Evangelist and the founder of LivePrayer.com, has received numerous death threats from Muslims who want him dead for posting the controversial anti-Muslim movie trailer FITNA on his website.  Fitna is a film by Dutch politician Geert Wilders, leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV) in the Dutch parliament. The movie offers his view on Islam and the Qur'an.

The film's title comes from the Arabic word fitna which is used to describe "disagreement Islam Agendaand division among people", or a "test of faith in times of trial".  The sixteen minute movie shows a selection of Suras from the Qur'an, interspersed with partial newspaper clippings and media clips. The movie is accompanied by music from the Peer Gynt suite by Edvard Grieg.

When asked why Liveprayer would put such a movie on their website Keller responded, "People have been lulled to sleep thinking that terror is caused by a handful of extremists.  That is not the case.  All Muslims read from the same book, and to obey "allah," are expected to obey what their holy book teaches.  That includes death to all infidels, or those who won't covert to their false religion, and ruling the world.  This film is very graphic, but people need to see and know what Islam is really about, converting the world to their false beliefs through terror and death!"

Live Leak,  a British video-sharing website pulled the movie after the organization reported "serious" threats to its staff members.  "Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly affect thesafety of some staff members, LiveLeak has been left with no other choice but to remove FINTA from our servers.  This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else."  the organization said.

The movie can be viewed at: http://liveprayer.com/fitna.cfm

My good friend Jeff Bayard came to town last week to attend the America's Truth/Basics Project Symposium Exposing the Threat of Islamic Terrorism with me. After an illuminating and exhausting day of learning, we saw someone engaged in a heated discussion with Robert Spencer, one of the presenters. Later, my friend Jeff sent me the URL http://muslimmatters.org/2008/02/06/what-would-you-say-to-america’s-leading-islamophobes-if-given-the-opportunity/ of a blog entry by this argumentative attendee. One of the neat things about my friend Jeff Bayard is he's always uncovering interesting things. In this case, he dug up a post from our fellow attendee describing us all as "future converts" to Islam. Jeff and I have a problem with this, as you'll see.

First, let's recap the symposium. Roger Hedgecock kicked the meeting off and proceeded to broadcast his national radio show from a room in the rear of the hall. Dr. Moorthy Muthuswamy, nuclear physicist, described standard Islamic conquests of countries through destruction and the role of mosques in the proselytization of terror against unbelievers. Dr.. Muthuswamy also asserted that Islam is not a religion but is a political movement of conquest with the trappings of a religion.

Dr. Bruce Tefft, founding member of the CIA’s Counter -Terrorism Center, described how important it is to listen to what your enemy is saying. He pointed out that one cannot wage war against a method, terrorism, but must know and name one’s enemy, in this case Islam. Dr. Wafa Sultan exposed the fact that Islam teaches destruction and not creation, and illuminated Saudi Arabia’s funding and fertilization of Islamic terrorism. Dr. Sultan talked briefly of female genital mutilation and told that this barbaric practice is occurring in the United States today in closed Muslim society.

Robert Spencer described the Muslim Brotherhood’s stated goal of destroying Western Civilization from within and the Islamic doctrine of deception. Jeff and I liked Mr. Spencer’s presentation because he presented steps to counter Islamic conquest.

The west’s current battle with radical Islam has revealed the worst in both the west and the world of Islam. Obviously from Islam we have seen the intolerance, hatred, oppression and evil in its nature. But, from the west we have seen revealed the hollowness of its soul and a complete lack of self-regard as so many western nations allow the evil of Islam to attack them from within as well as from without. The west has lost its spine to stand up for its own principles, in fact has thrown away all pretext that it even has principles worth preserving.

Ben Franklin is reported to have said that for the American people the Founders had created a Republic but he added the caution "if you can keep it." By that he meant, of course, that it was up to future Americans to maintain the system grounded upon the first principles the Founders bequeathed to us. The same can be said of any society for if a society throws away or strays too far from its beginnings it becomes a materially different entity. Now sometimes it’s a good thing when a society strays from its genesis, to be sure. Leaving behind certain prejudices, rectifying the suppression of ideas or ending the oppression of minorities is the mark of a maturing, benevolent society. But, too much change can also be a bad thing. And change merely for changes sake is not a legitimate goal.

This dual reliance on conserving tradition while moving forward to liberalize society is familiar ground for the west in general and the United States in particular. The Founders clearly believed that both liberalization and conservatism could be enshrined in a modern state. After all, the whole thrust of the Founders’ ideology was that they were combining a preservation of the best of English tradition with the liberalization of government by the consent of the people and the ideals of religious liberty.

To the American Founders, these were principles well worth fighting for. Read the rest of this entry »

"We terminated the most precious American asset which vowed to defeat [the] mujahedeen."

Al-Qaeda commander and spokesperson Mustafa Abu Al-Yazid, referencing the assassination of former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto; Adnkronos International News Service (AKI), December 27, 2007.

Lest I wind up standing back-to-back with actor Will Smith tomorrow morning defending myself against flying produce (Smith is taller, so I might not fare too badly), I’ll insert the disclaimer here: My personal, moral and religious values preclude a belief that any ethnic group is inherently superior or inferior to any other.

That being said, periodically I find it necessary and useful to state that such values do not preclude a belief that a particular culture might be inherently superior or inferior to another, and this is precisely the comparison I am making as regards Western culture versus the retrograde Indo-Arabic culture that spawns the mentality and social convention we glimpse in radical Islam.

True, the West and Western-influenced cultures do produce our share of sick freaks, however one cannot compare the body counts generated by one Jeffrey Dahmer, Jim Jones or even Aum Shinrikyo to that of radical Islamists worldwide or the primal, inhuman barbarity that is the hallmark of so many of their atrocities. Islamic extremists around the globe are currently averaging one People’s Temple-sized massacre each month, according to a cross section of media outlets, both reputable and questionable.

Benazir Bhutto, like many heads of state, particularly in the Third World, was no saint. Though definitely a cut far above her craven killers, this wasn’t Gandhi getting gunned down. In addition to the charges of corruption that plagued Bhutto during her tenure, the former Pakistani prime Minister was party to the repression of religious minorities in Pakistan. As is the case with many foreign politicos America has supported (and perhaps should not have), being an open advocate of cooperation with the West was Bhutto’s chief appeal. It was widely expected that her pro-Western stance would result in a government more cooperative and less duplicitous than that of the Pervez Musharraf regime.

This brings us to the likely course that might have been taken by the Bush administration and whichever administration follows. Was the hope that Bhutto would have immediately allowed NATO forces into northern Pakistan to wipe out Taliban and Al-Qaeda operatives – as opposed to sucking another $10 billion in American taxpayers’ money out of the invertebrates in high office as did Musharraf? The scenario is indeed reminiscent of that in Egypt, where a "cooperative" Sadat replaced the anti-West, anti-Israel Gamal Abdel Nasser, with Bhutto being an avatar of the former. As long as the U.S. aid dollars kept flowing, Sadat was willing to come to the table with Israeli leaders. It bears mentioning that he too was gunned down for his political coziness with the West.
