Just for fun, let’s assume a really fanciful, utterly unimaginable set of circumstances – a real screwball fantasy:
Let’s say that a group of religion-drunk psychopaths with dreams of paradise flew a pair of commercial aircraft full of screaming passengers into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City on, say, September 11th, 2001. Let’s suppose they kill, oh, a couple thousand people.
Naturally, it could never happen. Nobody is that deluded, that self-destructive, that murderous. No religion would sanction – and sanctify – such a thing. But play along with me here.
And let’s say that a few years down the road, a group of their co-religionists, led by a fellow who has opined that the events of that date were not orchestrated by his peers, but by 1) the Jews, 2) the U.S. government, 3) unknown but definitely NON-Muslim parties, or 4) some combination of the above – let’s say that this group wants to build a massive “Islamic learning center” and mosque as close as possible to the two holes in the ground that are the footprints of those towers.
Of course, nobody would stand for that. The city council would vote him down. The public would run him out of the city. But let’s just pretend.
Let’s pretend that this fellow gets, say, $100 million in financing to build the thing (from undisclosed sources); that he plans to open it on the 10th anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001 (no symbolism there); and that – hold onto your seat – he wants to call this abomination “Cordoba House.”
St. Petersburg, FL – Mar 31, 2008 – Bill Keller, the world's leading Internet Evangelist and the founder of LivePrayer.com, has received numerous death threats from Muslims who want him dead for posting the controversial anti-Muslim movie trailer FITNA on his website. Fitna is a film by Dutch politician Geert Wilders, leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV) in the Dutch parliament. The movie offers his view on Islam and the Qur'an.
The film's title comes from the Arabic word fitna which is used to describe "disagreement
and division among people", or a "test of faith in times of trial". The sixteen minute movie shows a selection of Suras from the Qur'an, interspersed with partial newspaper clippings and media clips. The movie is accompanied by music from the Peer Gynt suite by Edvard Grieg.
When asked why Liveprayer would put such a movie on their website Keller responded, "People have been lulled to sleep thinking that terror is caused by a handful of extremists. That is not the case. All Muslims read from the same book, and to obey "allah," are expected to obey what their holy book teaches. That includes death to all infidels, or those who won't covert to their false religion, and ruling the world. This film is very graphic, but people need to see and know what Islam is really about, converting the world to their false beliefs through terror and death!"
Live Leak, a British video-sharing website pulled the movie after the organization reported "serious" threats to its staff members. "Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly affect thesafety of some staff members, LiveLeak has been left with no other choice but to remove FINTA from our servers. This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else." the organization said.

It is neither alarmist nor prophetic to state with grim certainty that America will, in the not too distant future, suffer yet another major Islamist attack, possibly dwarfing the enormity of 9-11. Since shortly after that event, forces both within our nation and abroad have diligently sought to undermine American resolve to appropriately respond to the enemy. As a result, that enemy now perceives a growing and broadening opportunity to eventually hit us again.
Barring a nearly miraculous rebirth of American determination to avert that possibility (and any remnants of such determination are rapidly dissipating from the mainstream of society), the Islamists will, sooner or later, fall upon a feasible occasion to strike, and they will use it.

Americans have historically been reluctant to go to war. When we do, we are generally pretty good at it. In the last century, after electing Woodrow Wilson who promised to keep us out of the European war, we joined our traditional allies, England and France, to stop the Germans. We did it again about twenty years later, but only after a sneak attack by Japan ignited our righteous anger, plunging us into the existing war in Europe and, for us, the new one in the Pacific.
Truman committed troops to Korea when the Communist North Koreans attempted to overrun the south. Yes, it’s been called a stalemate for a half century, but the South is a thriving economic power while the North can barely supply itself with electric power or feed its people.
The Vietnam War is generally seen as a failure of American military power. What prolonged the war was the refusal of President Lyndon B. Johnson to listen to advice given him by his Joint Chiefs of Staff in a private meeting they had requested in November 1965. One suspects that President Bush has not been listening to his generals either.

Despite the complete disdain that conservative America holds towards former Assistant Attorney General Jamie Gorelick, it is hardly likely that she actually intended to help Bin Laden’s terrorists to successfully perpetrate the September 11 attacks. Rather, her goal was to stifle the ability of the justice system to hold her boss, Bill Clinton, accountable for the corruption being conducted from his office. Bin Laden merely benefited from her enablement of Clinton’s exploits.
Unfortunately, her lack of sinister intent, at least as it might pertain to the terrorists, was irrelevant to the ultimate harm she caused her country. More unfortunate still is the fact that in the aftermath of the attacks, those who, along with Gorelick had left the nation vulnerable, remained focused on their own interests and thus continue to act in a manner that poses a grave danger to the country.
The ongoing saga of former National Security Advisor Sandy Berger, and the selective myopia of the "9-11 Commission" stand as grim reminders of such.
Last year Tony Shaffer was a media sensation, as the spy in from the cold with his riveting account of what a secret military unit called Able Danger had uncovered long before the Sept. 11 attacks. But recently, the Pentagon's Inspector General's office released a report that basically whitewashes Shaffer's account.
All the insiders who supported Shaffer's account have since changed their minds and are calling Schaffer a liar. One example of leaving Tony Shaffer to hand is Navy Capt. Scott Phillpott.
The goal of Able Danger, established at U.S. Special Operations Command in October 1999, was to track al-Qaeda operatives using data-mining techniques. Phillpott served as the unit's operations officer.
Shortly after Shaffer went public in mid-August of 2005, Phillpott, by then working at the Pentagon, issued a brief statement backing him.
"My story has remained consistent. Atta was identified by Able Danger in January/February 2000," Phillpott said.
That story would unspool when he was questioned by the inspector general's office.
During the first interview, Phillpott, whose name is redacted from the report, said he was "100 percent [certain]" there was a chart with Atta's photograph. During the second interview, he wavered, saying he was not sure he'd seen Atta.
By the third interview, he was convinced Atta was not on the chart. (TBO.com)
The Able Danger story surfaced last year, and most readers of the media do have short memories. The new report which whitewashes the Able Danger findings made cloud the memory of even more readers.
John Miller, Assistant Director responded to pending changes in domestic intelligence with this release.
With the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks coming shortly after British authorities disrupted the plot to bomb airliners over the Atlantic, we are seeing another round of calls to break up the F.B.I. or to create a domestic intelligence agency separate from the F.B.I. with no police powers, similar to Britain’s MI5.
But these critics, who have been joined by the prominent federal appeals court judge Richard Posner, seem to be unaware of two critical things. One is how far the F.B.I. has come in transforming itself into an intelligence-driven organization in the last five years; the other is how many attacks we have prevented in that span.
Using intelligence and technology—and our authority to make arrests—the F.B.I. has stopped five terrorist plots in progress in roughly the last year alone:
- On Aug. 31, 2005, in Los Angeles, we arrested four members of a group of radicals that had grown out of the prison system and was planning to attack military recruiting centers and synagogues.
- In February, in Toledo, Ohio, we arrested three men who had conspired to travel to Iraq and attack American forces there.
- In a case out of Atlanta, indictments were handed down in March and July against two men who had traveled to Washington to videotape possible targets near the Capitol and then met with other extremists in Canada to compare notes.
- In Miami in June, seven extremists were arrested after being recorded on F.B.I. surveillance tapes swearing allegiance to Al Qaeda and making plans to attack targets in Miami and Chicago, including the Sears Tower.
- In July a plot to attack subways in New York was disrupted with the arrest of the mastermind in Lebanon.

An example of this bewilderment is liberal columnist Froma Harrop's current piece titled Islamic Terror's Endless 'Root Causes'. She writes:
"That Islamic terrorists hate the United States is an all-purpose explanation. Dig deeper into the reasons for that hatred, though, and the confident answers of "expert opinion" don't quite satisfy.
"Since that gruesome blue-sky day, Islamic radicals have staged more attacks and have been foiled in others. But try to find a connecting theme, other than psychosis. There's only a pile of shifting motives."
Why not believe what the terrorists themselves tell us is their reason for 9/11 and similar attacks around the world?
Osama Bin Ladin has proclaimed unequivocally, many times, that Al Queda envision themselves as reviving the campaign begun by Mohammed in 622 AD to establish a universal Islamic Caliphate and carried on ruthlessly for a thousand years thereafter.
In 622 AD the Mediterranean basin political states were almost all Christian. Mohammed's Islamic military forces began systematically conquering, looting, and subjugating those states to Islam. The men resisting Islam were slaughtered and the women and children sold into slavery.
In addition to acquisitive instincts for other people's property, Muslims were driven by Allah's command in the Koran to convert everyone, everywhere to Islam, a name that in English means submission.
Efraim Karsh, in his April, 2006, article in Commentary noted:
"As the 14th-century historian and philosopher Abdel Rahman ibn Khaldun wrote, "In the Muslim community, the jihad is a religious duty because of the universalism of the Islamic mission and the obligation [to convert] everybody to Islam either by persuasion or by force."
Conspiracy theories about 9/11 have been able to grow in part because we haven't done a good enough job of keeping the facts before the American people and debunking the myths.

'Back to school' no longer stands out as September's main event to me …ever since 9/11.
It's hard to believe that September 11, 2006 marks five years since the devastating terrorist attacks on America. I for one believe it is extremely important to remember and recount what happened that day, so that we don't lose sight of the nature and goals of the enemy we face in this war on terror.
I've heard some say we need to 'move on', that we've 'remembered' enough. Others question if it's too soon to remember through movie images such as Flight 93 and World Trade Center. Still others, such as Bill Clinton try to censor accounts such as "The Path to 9/11" which airs this September 9th and 10th on ABC.
Five years later there are still those who believe and promote 9/11 conspiracy theories, such as Kevin Barrett who will teach a class on Islam at the University of Wisconsin this fall, despite the protests over 60 state legislators. He is a hero to conspiracy theorists. The community of 'believers' who propagate their 9/11 conspiracy 'doctrine' over the internet and in articles and even books have even found their way to air their theories C-SPAN. As WorldNetDaily reports: some of the conspiracy theories that began almost immediately after the attacks of 9/11 include: "4,000 Jews had supposedly been warned to stay home from the World Trade Center that day; Flight 93 had been shot down over Pennsylvania by the U.S. military; George W. Bush's delay in ending his visit with elementary school students when told of the World Trade Center attacks signaled that perhaps he had prior knowledge of the events" ….that 9/11 events were an 'inside job.' Time magazine talks about Why 9/11 Conspiracy Theories Won't Go Away this week.

Last night I heard on CNN' Situation Report, that 1/3 of all Americans polled still believe there was a conspiracy involved with 9/11. Both the Republican and Democrat strategist agree there was never a conspiracy. This is what the media wants us to believe.
I guess I am one of the many 1/3 Americans who believe there was some warning before the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. And the evidence shows….
Three veteran federal law enforcement agents confirmed to THE NEW AMERICAN that the information provided to Schippers was widely known within the Bureau before September 11th. Because these individuals face possible personal or professional retaliation, they agreed to speak with us on condition of anonymity. Two of them, however, have expressed a willingness to testify before Congress regarding the views they have shared with us.
"I don't buy the idea that we didn't know what was coming," a former FBI official with extensive counter-terrorism experience commented to THE NEW AMERICAN. "Within 24 hours [of the attack] the Bureau had about 20 people identified, and photos were sent out to the news media. Obviously this information was available in the files and somebody was sitting on it." This former FBI agent noted that before Zacarias Moussaoui, the so-called "Twentieth Hijacker," was detained in Minneapolis, he had undergone flight instruction in Oklahoma, "where we know that Arab terrorist networks have been established for many years."
An active federal counter-terrorism investigator told THE NEW AMERICAN that it was well known "all over the Bureau, how these [warnings] were ignored by Washington…. All indications are that this information came from some of [the Bureau's] most experienced guys, people who have devoted their lives to this kind of work. But their warnings were placed in a pile in someone's office in Washington…. In some cases, these field agents predicted, almost precisely, what happened on September 11th. So we were all holding our breath hoping that the situation would be remedied." (The New American Vol. 18 No. 05)
And…
"The FBI had advance indications of plans to hijack U.S. airliners and use them as weapons, but neither acted on them nor distributed the intelligence to local police agencies," reported Chicago Sun-Times columnist Robert Novak on September 27th. "From the moment of the September 11th attacks, high-ranking federal officials insisted that the terrorists' method of operation surprised them. Many stick to that story. Actually, elements of the hijacking plan were known to the FBI as early as 1995 and, if coupled with current information, might have uncovered the plot."
In fact, both the FBI and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had detailed information about the possible use of hijack/suicide attacks by terrorists connected to Osama bin Laden. "In 1994," reported the October 3rd New York Times, "two jetliners were hijacked by people who wanted to crash them into buildings, one of them by an Islamic militant group. And the 2000 edition of the FAA?s annual report on Criminal Acts Against Aviation, published this year, said that although Osama bin Laden is not known to have attacked civil aviation, he has both the motivation and the wherewithal to do so,? adding, Bin Laden's anti-Western and anti-American attitudes make him and his followers a significant threat to civil aviation, particularly to U.S. civil aviation." Moreover, the 1999 edition of the FAA document reported that a radical Islamic leader living in British exile warned in August 1998 that bin Laden "would bring down an airliner, or hijack an airliner to humiliate the United States." (The New American Vol. 17 No.23)
There is ample evidence to question the Us Government's stand of having no prior knowledge of the 9/11 attacks.
